The spring is almost here, and Jeep owners couldn’t be happier. The time for taking the rooftops off and removing the doors from their hinges is finally arriving. Before you get too excited and swap out various Jeep Wrangler parts and accessories, you must take the time to look over your vehicle and ensure it is ready for the warmer seasons. You should assess at least five things to get your Jeep ready.
1. Inspect Your Tires
After a long and challenging winter, you first need to look over your tires. Check the treads and the outer edges for excessive wear.
According to experts, you should replace your tires every three to six years, depending on wear. Tires typically have a usage of 35,000 to 70,000 miles. Before you take your Jeep out this spring, think about the last time you replaced your tires. Is it time for a new set?
2. Change Your Exterior Parts
The spring is a time for exploring and getting out of the house. If your Jeep is still in winter mode, it is time to change it for the warmer weather ahead. For example, if your vehicle has winter tires, you can swap them for your favorite all-terrain or off-roading tires. Also, if you plan on exploring less established trails, consider truck lifting to give your Jeep a little extra clearance when off-road.
3. Check Your Fluids
The spring is the perfect time to check all essential fluids, including oil and windshield wiper fluid. During the winter, you likely used a lot of wiper fluid to rinse away salt, mud, and debris, so the bottle could use a topping-off.
Frequent oil changes are also essential to Jeep maintenance. If your oil is old, it can slow down the engine and reduce its efficiency. You should change the oil every 7,500 to 10,000 miles, depending on how hard you drive your vehicle.
4. Wash Your Ride
If you’re like most vehicle owners, you don’t worry too much about washing your Jeep during the winter months. While you may wash it occasionally, keeping it clean with all the snow, mud, and salt is challenging.
Since spring is right around the corner, take your vehicle to the local wash and get it all shiny and looking new. Nothing is better than taking a first-day-of-spring ride in a shiny and clean Jeep.
5. Assess the Battery
The average car battery will last three to four years, depending on the climate and your driving. The winter months are more challenging on batteries, especially in colder and snowier regions. Regardless of how long you have had your battery, you should test and assess it before the spring. The last thing you want is finally to experience a beautiful day and realize your battery is dead, so a ride is out of the question.
Spring is the most beautiful time of the year, especially for Jeep owners. Swap out your old winter tires for a new set of 33-inch all-terrain tires and experience the pleasant weather on the road or off it. If you need help choosing tires or finding other accessories or parts, talk to a salesperson at your favorite auto parts store.
